Allison Wins Gold
Nine year old Allison Masuch claimed her first gold medal at the Jindalee Long course meet on Sunday 26th November with a convincing win in the 50m freestyle event. The nine member Lakes swim team all performed well with Zac Welfare (11) taking home two bronze in the butterfly and backstroke, Aaron Langdale (8) a bronze in freestyle and one of the Lakes Club newest members Bianca Ward winning a bronze medal in the 13yo girls 50m backstroke event. Coach Caroline Somers was very impressed with the team's effort on the day. "The squad have been training very hard over the past few months and the results are starting to show. Its great to see so many PBs being swum." she said.

Jeffares Laidley Champions
Keegan Jeffares won the 9yr boys Age Champion trophy at the Laidley Sprint meet held on Sunday 26th November swimming three wins and a third place. Keegan's sister Antoinette also had a great meet swimming 4 PBs from 4 swims, 3 second places and a win on the day to take 2nd place overall in the 10 yr girls Age Champion title just 3/100ths seconds behind the winner. Club Short Course Records Updated
Check out the current Lakes Club Short Course records. Those members that do not currently compete at swimming carnivals will have an opportunity to put themselves in the record books at the Mid Summer Meet on 1st December at the Forest Lake Aquatic Centre. You will need to pre-nominate for the meet by 24th November. This can be done by filling out a nomination form at this weeks club meet or if you can't make it, send an email to Sandy Veeren so you don't miss out on the opportunity. Age Records can be set in in the four strokes.

Somerset & Birkdale
Lakes swim team were split between two venues today with members attending the annual Somerset long course meet on the Gold Coast and the twilight short course meet at Birkdale. With only a few qualifying meets left on the calendar beforre the state championships in December, the competition was strong at Somerset and included a team visiting from Great Britain. Lakes Team swimmers achieved plenty of PBs at both meets. Danielle Taylor set a Birkdale pool record for 25m Backstroke and there are 3 new club short course records - Tehnae Findlay for 50m Free, Kristin Taylor for 50m Breast & 50m Fly. View results here

BSA Longcourse
There were eight members entered into the BSA Long Course meet at Chandler last weekend, 11-12 November. Beth Arnold(10yrs), Ellie Colgan(10), Allison Masuch(9) and Caleb Sadler(8) competed in the Junior sessions on Saturday morning. Caleb managed to chop a whopping 19.68 seconds of his PB in the 50m Freestyle and Allison Masuch continued to improve with 4 PBs from 4 races. Zac Welfare(11), Ashlee Langdale(12) and Kara Colgan(12) are aiming to compete at the Qld State Championships in December and are working hard to achieve the qualifying times needed to enter the hotly contested carnival. Zac qualified for the 100m freestyle at Chandler on Sunday. Ashlee and Kara have their sights set on the 100m breaststroke event lowering their PBs by 5.45 and 2.39 seconds respectively and puting themselves within striking distance of the qualifying time needed for the event. The team also got to meet Olympian Michael Klim who was also entered in the meet.
