Brisbane Extra Features World Champ and Lakes Swim Team Squad
Just home from representing Australia at the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships held in Ireland, Jess Hine received some well deserved media attention having clinched gold medals and world records at the meet. Caroline Somers' senior squad members were on hand with the crew from TV's Brisbane Extra to welcome home their training partner. The segment is due to go to air on Channel Nine, Tuesday 3rd October at 5.30pm.

Stingers Junior Meet Oakey
Entries have now closed for the Toowoomba City Stingers Junior meet to be held at Oakey, west of Brisbane, on October 15th. Lake's will have 17 members on the team at this long course meet for 12yrs and under swimmers. Check the list of Lake's Club entries and their nominated times for the meet here.

Flyers 400 Toowoomba
Seven of the club's swimmers head out west to Toowoomba on Sunday 1st October, the day after the BSA meet, for the Flyers Swim club long course meet at the Milne Bay Aquatic Centre. Hopefully Keegan & Antoinette Jeffares, Kristin & Danielle Taylor, Lachlan Schotel and Kara & Ellie Colgan can bring home some of the cash prizes on offer at this one!

Brisbane Spring Sprint Meet
Round 1 of the BSA Divisional Premership will be held at the Chandler pool complex on 30th September. Lakes Swim Club competes against other clubs in the Division 4. River City Rapids Meet

Lakes Swimming club had 21 swimmers entered for the River City Rapids meet on Sunday 17th September....Beth Arnold, Kali Arnold, Stephanie Chettle, Ellie Colgan, Kara Colgan, Chloe Glass, Justin Glass, Chloe Hillman, Elita Huynh, Antoinette Jeffares, Keegan Jeffares, Rebecca Keep, Ashlee Langdale, Aaron Langdale, Allison Masuch, Danielle Taylor, Kristin Taylor, Corey Kulick, Zac Kulick, Lachlan Schotel, Zac Welfare. All swimmers performed at their best with lots of PBs and a huge medal haul....

Kristin Wins State Short Course Medals
Nine year old Lake's Swim Club member Kristin Taylor took home two medals at the Heritage Qld Short Course Championship winning bronze in backstroke and silver in freestyle events.
Out of the 25 swimmers competing for Lakes Swimming club over the winter period, 7 qualified for the meet at the Sleeman Centre, Chandler on the 9th & 10th September. They were Kristin Taylor – 9yrs 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke; Corey Kulick – 9yrs 50m Breaststroke; Beth Arnold – 10yrs 50m Butterfly, 50m Breaststroke; Zac Welfare – 10yrs 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke; Kara Colgan – 12yrs 50m Freestyle; Elita Huynh - 12yrs 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke; Justin Glass - 13yrs 50m Breaststroke.
For most it was their first time swimming at State level. The team managed to break 11 of the Lakes Swimming club records and lots of PBs during the weekend of nearly 5000 individual swims.
